GOING GINGER

Negli anni sono giunta alla conclusione che per noi italiane i capelli sono sacri, sono patrimonio dell'unesco, intoccabili; andiamo dal parrucchiere con idee rivoluzionarie per poi uscirne solo con la proverbiale spuntatina. Per certi versi, meglio così, aspetto più naturale, meno prodotti chimici in corpo; però dov'è il divertimento?

Quando ci sentiamo particolarmente coraggiose, andiamo di riflessanti e al massimo colpi di sole, che per accorgerti della differenza devi metterti contro luce, al sole, con una foto del prima e del dopo.

Sfortunatamente da questo punto di vista sono molto poco italiana, a me piace giocarci con i capelli, sperimentare, talvolta esagerare. Per me i capelli sono importanti, vanno nutriti e trattati con cura ma rimangono un veicolo per esprimermi, niente di più. 

Quando cambio colore di capelli, alcune amiche mi chiedono come ho fatto ad essere così coraggiosa neanche avessi fatto paracadutismo su una vasca di murene; non è coraggio ma semplice disinibizione. Apprezzo le opinioni positive o negative che siano sul colore ma non mi faccio frenare dall'opinione pubblica.

Questo non vuol dire passare dal biondo al nero al rosso al violetto con le punte blu nel giro di 20 giorni, significa semplicemente assecondare, nella maniera meno dannosa possibile, una voglia di cambiamento.

Posto ciò, vi presento il primo step al quello che spero diventerà uno splendido rosso irlandese. Al momento mi rendo conto di assomigliare più ad un Weasley che ad una discendente di Joyce, però da qualche parte bisogna pur iniziare.

NAKED 3 PALETTE REVIEW

Hey everyone, i'm finally on holidays, i almost forgot the feeling of having some free time. Of course the first thing i did as soon as i was done with finals was writing a blog post, well celebrating and then writing a blog post.
Today i would like to review for you the very famous Naked 3 by Urban Decay; this palette is the latest one of the line and the most discussed one because of the undertone of the eyeshadows. In fact differently from the 1 and 2, the palette contains mainly rose toned neutrals that unfortunately don't look good on everyone. As the owner of the Naked 1 i was very skeptical about purchasing it, if i had to chose i would have probably bought the Vice 2 instead of this palette but now that i have it, i'm so glad i do. All the eyeshadows are stunning and they look great of my light complexion.
The packaging is almost identical to the Naked 2; the palette comes with a duo-ended brush and four samples of the Urban Decay primer.
The first eyeshadow of the palette is Strange, a stunning matte beige with ,of course, a warm pink undertone, it's perfect for highlighting the inner corner and the brow-bone
Then Dust follows, very similar to Sin from the Naked one but a little bit more dusty and not as pigmented, it's not one of my favorites.
The third one is Burnout, warmer than Dust and definitely more pigmented, it's a pretty pink perfect for all over the lid.
Limit as to be of my most liked ones, it's a matte vintage pink that gives your eyes so much definition.
Buzz is the perfect rose gold, so glamorous and so pigmented, it's very shimmery, i love it.
Trick is the bronzy version of Half-baked, my all time favorite eyeshadow from Naked 1; it's a pretty gold that i use to warm up the makeup, perfect anywhere really.
Nooner is the darker version of Limit, it's matte and more on the coffe and milk color, so so pretty.
Liar is quite difficult to describe, the pigments are very fine so it feels very silky on the lid, it's a shimmery sand color with a strong pink-purply undertone, makes a great base for a neutral smoky eyes.
Factory reminds me a little bit of Toasted from Naked 1, a bronzy- rose gold, perfect for a smoky eyes or just for a wash of color on the lid.
Now, the last three eyeshadows are the least pink toned ones, they are more on the grey side and i really like them; Mugshot it's a grey undertone shimmery tope eyeshadow, Darkside is a slightly satin, almost matte, grey with a brown undertone and finally Blackheart, a dark eggplant eyeshadow with gold glitters, it's incredibly pretty.
Overall the palette has good balance of matte and shimmery eyeshadows, they are all quite pigmented and very easy to apply. If you like rose toned neutrals this is the palette for you, if you don't, i would try with the Naked 1 or 2, depending if you prefer matte or satin eyeshadows.

MANIMONDAY + GIVEAWAY!

LUSH WINTER SALE

Lush sales is like Santa, it only comes once a year and to me is almost as exciting as Christmas itself. As the lush-aholic i am being able to buy products with a 50% discount it's just nuts to me.
I went kind of crazy and got a bunch of goodies i wanted to try for a while and with shock i realized i only spent 23€ for 6 products, kind of awesome i believe.

The first thing i got is a 100g shower gel and it is "Rose Jam" Lush describes it as a "rosy shower gel made with vanilla pod infusion, goji berry juice and nourishing argan oil, Rose Jam leaves your skin soft, hydrated and sweetly-scented." and i totally agree. It smells divine and so decadent, i can't wait to use it. 

Il primo prodotto che ho acquistato è "Regina di rose", Lush lo descrive come un bagnoschiuma profumato alla rosa, con infuso di baccelli di vaniglia, bacche di goji e olio di argan nutriente, lascia la pelle morbita, idratata e profumatissima. Non potrei essere più d'accordo, ha una fragranza divina e non vedo l'ora di usarlo. 

The second goodie is a hair mist, it's infused with sea water, lemon and grapefruit; it's supposed to make your hair look fashionably messy and voluminous, just like after a beach day.

Il secondo acquisto è stato "Brezza di mare" uno spray infuso con acqua di mare, limone ed olio essenziale di pompelmo che dovrebbe dare ai capelli quell'aspetto spettinato ma con stile che va tanto di moda, dando l'illusione di essere appena tornati da una vacanza ai tropici.

I had my eyes on "Buffy" for such a long time but i never got myself to buy it, now for only 7,75€ i scored the 250g version.Lush says" Massage our Buffy body butter all over your wet skin in the bath or shower to make you softer and smooth to the touch, paying special attention to your backside. We add ground rice, almonds and beans to Buffy to act as exfoliants; the rough textures eliminate lumps and bumps and sloughs away dry skin cells to reveal brighter, fresher looking skin"

Avevo adocchiato "Copacabana" da mesi ma non ero mai riuscita a comprarlo e per fortuna, considerando che ai saldi sono riuscita a trovare la versione da 250g a soli 7,75€. Questo blocco è uno scrub idratante da usare sotto la doccia su pelle bagnata. Contiene riso macinato, mandorle e fagioli che agiscono da esfolianti rendendo la pelle elastica ed idratata.

Of course i could not avoid getting some bath bombs, they are just such a nice treat after a long day.
I purchased 3, two from the holidays collection and one from the permanent one.
Ovviamente non potevo evitare di comprare alcune bath bombs, sono una delizia dopo una lunga gionata. Ne ho acquistate 3, di cui due della collezione natalizia e una di quella permanente.

"Think Pink" belongs to the permanent collection, it makes your bath pink and it releases flowers and petals while it melts. To me, it just smells like bubblegum and unicorns. 

"Think Pink" appartiene alla collezione permanente, trasforma l'acqua in un lago rosa e mentre si scioglie rilascia petali di fiori; per me profuma di gomma da masticare e unicorni.

"Shoot for the stars" smells like sweet toffee and caramel and that says it all, i mean i don't even have to waste words describing how deliriously delicious it smells.

"Palla spaziale" profuma di toffee e caramello e tanto basta a lasciarvi immaginare quanto meravigliosamente deliziosa sia. 

Ultimo ma non ultimo, "Guarda che luna" uno spumante da bagno che profuma di pulito, sgretolandolo sotto l'acqua corrente crea una marea di bolle. Il mio consiglio è di non usarlo tutto in una volta, io l'ho fatto anni fa ed ho sommerso il bagno di schiuma, ho dovuto usare secchio e pala per pulire tutto, continuava a straboccare dalla vasca, è stato un divertentissimo incidente.

Come sempre mi hanno mandato tantissimi campioncini, tra cui la crema mani, lo shampoo secco, un pezzo di "non si mangia" ed uno di "sapore di mare".

Beauty 101: Pencils

I now, i now, i've been neglecting the blog a lot and i'm sorry but i have been working a lot on the Youtube channel. But don't worry, today i have a good old Beauty 101 post, where you can learn all the basics about makeup.
This time, the topic is pencils. When we think i about pencils the first thing that comes into my mind are the colorful crayons that i used when i was a kid (who am i kidding, i still use them) but we are not talking about that kind of pencils, today i'll show you the wonderful world of eyes, brows and lip pencils.
The main difference between them is the hardness: brows pencils have usually the hardest lead because they have to simulate brow's hair; eyes pencils are in between, you can find harder ones and more creamy ones depending on the brand; lips pencils are usually the softest because the finish has to be similar to lipsticks.
Brows pencils are usually used to fill in brows and they should be purchased two shades darker for light brows and two shades lighter for dark brows.
My favorite ones are Bobby Brown and Mac.

Eyes pencils have a endless number of uses; they can be applied in the water-line, in the crease, or close to the lash line. Usually the ones for the water-line are white or champaign toned and they are very useful to brighten the makeup and make the eyes look bigger. The finish to these pencils is usually waterproof.
I like my pencils to be soft enough not to hurt my eyes while applying it but too soft otherwise it might end up smudging.
Very important is to make sure that the pencil is very pigmented but also that it doesn't contain harsh chemicals, especially if you are planning to apply it in the waterline. If you guys want i can write a specific post on how to read makeup labels.
If i had to pick an italian brand it would probably be Neve Makeup, their pencils are incredibly pigmented, cruelty free and almost all natural.

Finally, let's talk about lips pencils; they are usually used to line the lips before applying lipstick in order to achieve a neater finish. I like to fill them in too using the pencil, that way the lipstick will stay on longer. There is also another kind of lips pencil that is usually white or transparent, is packed with silicones or in the best case wax and it's used to draw outside the lip-line creating a barrier to prevent the lipstick or lipgloss from smudging.

Now that you a little bit more about pencils, here's some tips:
1- make sure to sharpen the pencil every time some else uses it, this way the lead will be clean. Eyes infections are not a joke!

2-Splurge in a good quality pencil because keeping your eyes and lips safe is the most important thing; read the label or blogs before buying

3- keep the lid on, for hygienic reasons. 

4- if a pencil that you used to love is giving you an hard time, rub it between your hands to warm the lead, that might solve the problem

5- have fun! 

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLYINMAKEUPLAND!

Non sono mai stata una bambina femminile se così si può dire, odiavo i bambolotti, detestavo far finta di essere una casalinga in giochi del tipo “facciamo finta che”. Principalmente amavo i videogiochi e imbrattarmi i vestiti non appena possibile. Una volta mi sono persino tagliata i capelli cortissimi da sola rubando le forbici dalla cucina; inutile descrivervi l’espressione sgomenta dei miei genitori quando mi hanno trovato a fissare innocentemente il pagliaio di capelli depositato ai miei piedi.

Hanno provato ad iscrivermi a danza ma ho abbandonato dopo una settimana, dio, ballare era una cosa che consideravo assolutamente oltraggiosa. La cosa più vicina ad uno sport femminile che siano mai riusciti a farmi fare assiduamente è stata ginnastica artistica e solo perché avevo aspirazioni di diventare un ninja da grande. 

Passavo la maggior parte del mio tempo con mio padre e mio fratello quindi cercavo di omologarmi a loro quanto più possibile, eppure adoravo le Barbie e la moda. 

Era una contraddizione inspiegabile; nonostante cercassi di assomigliare a mio fratello quanto più possibile non riuscivo a non essere attratta dai vestiti. Probabilmente per questo devo ringraziare mia madre, almeno credo che il termine corretto sia ringraziare, ha sempre avuto uno spiccato senso dello stile, osando outfit molto particolari senza fare una grinza. La vedevo andare in udienza indossato completi pantalone mutlicolor di Versace o stampati di Cavalli. 

Un’altra cosa mi attraeva incredibilmente, questa al contrario della moda è rimasta inespressa per moltissimi anni poiché non potevo e non volevo accettarla. Significava ammettere che fossi una ragazza. Ricordo che una volta ho sottratto di nascosto, quando avevo circa sette anni, dalla trousse di mia cucina un’ombretto argento. L’ho custodito gelosamente per giorni finché sopravvalutando le mie abilità da signora del crimine non sono stata beccata e l’ho dovuto restituire. Non sapevo neanche io perché l’avevo preso, probabilmente all’epoca non sapevo neanche cosa fosse ma ciò nonostante lo desideravo tantissimo. 

Alle medie la situazione è andata peggiorando; ho cominciato a sperimentare con i vestiti, nulla di troppo avanguardistico ma per la mentalità dei miei compagni di classe tredicenni nulla che non fosse un jeans a vita bassa ed una t-shirt era appropriato. 

Ho commesso molti, moltissimi errori e ho sperimentato praticamente qualsiasi cosa, dal look manga con tanto di manicotti bi colore al bon-ton. 

Una volta mi feci tagliare dal parrucchiere una frangetta, nella mia classe nessuno la portava ma io l’avevo notata in molte riviste e film americani. Per un anno tutte le ragazze mi presero in giro; poco alla volta ognuna di loro cominciò a sua volta a portare la frangetta. Da lì realizzai che non era quel particolare taglio di capelli il problema, semplicemente non erano pronte. 

Ricordo perfettamente il giorno in cui ho cominciato a truccarmi, di ritorno da una vacanza in Egitto con la famiglia, avevo acquistato una boccetta di kajal, ero fermamente intenzionata ad utilizzarla ma non sapevo da dove iniziare. Decisi di applicarlo sulla rima inferiore dell’occhio; ho cominciato a farlo tutti i giorni. Sono stata la prima ragazzina della mia classe a cominciare a truccarsi, non lo facevo perché volevo sentirmi più attraente, ero così insicura che nulla avrebbe aiutato in quel campo, ma semplicemente perché lo trovavo bello. La mia passione è sempre stata disegnare e poterlo fare su un viso era un concetto assolutamente eccezionale per me. 

I primi anni del liceo ho commesso alcuni dei miei più grandi errori in campo di moda e makeup a cominciare dagli occhi così detti da “procione” a finire all’eye-liner super spesso stile Cleopatra. Recentemente ho raccolto tutti i miei beauty-fail più eclatanti in un video di Youtube. 

Finalmente a sedici anni ho cominciato a guardare video tutorial di makeup, inizialmente semplicemente perché mi rilassavano, in seguito ho sviluppato un interesse ossessivo per la materia; ho iniziato a costruire la mia collezione di trucchi e pennelli e finalmente dopo quasi due anni nella comunity online ho deciso di aprire un mio blog e canale Youtube.

Mi sono sempre divertita a dare consigli di makeup, non perché pensassi di essere particolarmente più abile del mio interlocutore ma perché avevo piacere a condividere ciò che avevo imparato online. 

Tutto questo lunghissimo discorso del quale probabilmente vi importa ben poco solo per raccontarvi come mi sono avvicinata al mondo del makeup e della moda e sopratutto per trasmettere un messaggio: non fatevi scoraggiare se vi dovessero dire che siete diversi o strani perché probabilmente semplicemente non riescono a capirvi, continuate a seguire le vostre passioni e ciò che vi fa star bene. Dio santissimo suona veramente melenso e degno di un’epilogo di un teen movie di Disney Channel, tuttavia il messaggio è sincero. 

Spero continuerete a seguire me e le mie avventure su questo blog con la speranza di poter sempre condividere con voi contenuti nuovi ed eccitanti.

I was never a girly girl growing up, i hated dolls and playing pretending to be a housewife or a mom. I loved video games and jumping in mud puddles whenever i had the occasion. One time i even gave myself a military short haircut stealing a pair of scissors from the kitchen; no need to describe you the look on my parents face when they found me with a pile of hair on my feet. 

They tried to make me do balled but i didn’t last a week, god to me dancing was so embarrassing; the closer i got to a delicate sport was when i started doing gymnastic and only because i had ninja aspirations. 

I used to spend most of my time with my brother and my dad so i would constantly try to emulate them but oddly enough i loved Barbie and fashion.

I was such a nonsense to me at the time, being the tomboy i was i didn’t understand my attraction to fashion. Probably that has something to do with my mother, she always had a very specific sense of style, she used to wear crazy colorful Versace suits or Cavalli animalier printed jeans. 

Another thing attracted me, i tried to repress it as much as i could for a very long time, admitting that i liked it was like admitting that i was a girl and that could not happen.

One time i “borrowed” a silver eyeshadow from my older cousin’s makeup bag; i probably didn’t even know what it was for but nevertheless i wanted it. Since i am not the perfect criminal i thought i was, i bus busted few days later and i had to give it back but those two days i got to keep it it was magical.

In middle-school the situation didn’t get any better; i started experimenting with clothes, nothing to crazy but to my narrow-minded 13 years old class mates nothing outside jeans and t-shits was aloud; no need to say i was severely bullied. 

I made a lot of fashion mistakes while trying any possible style or fashion trend. 

I remember the one time i asked my hairdresser for bangs, none in my class had one but i saw it in american magazines and teen movies so i really wanted one. For almost a year all the girls in my class made fun of me, few months later each and everyone of them went for the same haircut; that time i realized that the problem wasn’t that particular hairstyle but the fact that those girls simply weren’t ready.

I will never forget the day i started wearing makeup, it was right after i got back from a family holiday in Egypt; i purchased there a little jar of kajal and i was very determinate to use it but i didn’t know there to start. I started wearing it in my waterline, just a think line of black. I was the first girl in my class to wear any makeup. I didn’t do it because i wanted to improve my look, oh god, i was so shy and insicure that nothing would have helped on that matter; i did it because i loved painting and being able to do it on a face was just incredible to me.

During grade 9 and 10 i made some of my worst makeup mistakes that i have recently narrated in a Youtube video. I went from really dark smoky eyes raccoon like to very thick eyeliner that made me look like a very odd Cleopatra.

Two years ago i started watching makeup tutorials, at first because they relaxed me, eventually i started to get really interested in the subject. I watched a ridiculous amount of videos and i began to built my makeup collection one eyeshadow at the time.

I always enjoyed giving makeup advices to girls, not because i thought i was better then them but because i liked sharing my knowledge with them. Eventually, a year ago i finally decided to open my very own Youtube channel and blog.

This extremely long tale is to tell you guys a little bit of how i got into fashion and makeup and to give you guys a message: don’t let anyone get between you and your dream, keep practicing your passions and don’t let anyone tell you want you can or can not be interested in.

I had an amazing year on this blog, I met so many amazing people and i got to attend so many great events. I hope you guys will continue following my adventure and i look forward to improve the content even more.

Thunderstorm

 I don't know about you guys but i love summer thunderstorms, the way the sky and the sea look, the sounds, the amazing smell of rain.  I couldn't miss the opportunity to shoot these pictures wearing this incredible bathing suit from H&M, i like the way it hugs my body, i think it's very flattering. Doing this shoot was so much fun expecially because we had to bike under the storm, no need to say we ended up being soaking wet! I hope you guys enjoy them; also i'm fancying the idea of filming a makeup tutorial for the water proof makeup i'm wearing in these pictures, would you guys like that?

Non so voi ma io adoro i temporali, i colori che assumono il mare e il cielo, i suoni, l'incredibile profumo di pioggia. Non potevo perdere l'occasione di scattare queste foto nelle quali indosso un fantastico costume da bagno di H&M, mi piace particolarmente il modo in cui abbraccia la mia siluette, credo sia perfetto per chiunque abbia un fisico così detto a clessidra. 

Realizzare questo shoot è stato incredibilmente divertente specialmente perchè siamo stati costretti ad andare in bici nel bel mezzo del temporale, non è necessario evidenziare che eravamo zuppi. Spero vi piacciano; stavo valutando la possibilità di filmare un makeup tutorial per questo trucco water proof, vi piacerebbe?

Sunscreen Must-Haves.

-I can't wait to be old and wrinkly- said none ever, but that is what it's going to happen if you neglet your sunscreen. Overexposure to UVA and UVB rays cause premature aging and in the worst case scenario, skin tumor but don't you worry, there is no need to hide in a cave this summer while everybody else is having fun, i got you covered! As the pale human being i am i always have a good variety of sunscreen and i make sure to protect every part of my body because few people know that your hair and your lips can get sun-burned too.

-Non vedo l'ora di essere vecchia e rugosa- disse nessuno mai, ma questo è quello che succederà se sei negligente nell'applicare la protezione solare. Una sovraesposizione ai raggi UVA e UVB può provocare invecchiamento prematuro e nel peggiore dei casi un tumore alla pelle, ma non preoccuparti, quest'estate non dovrai nasconderti in una grotta mentre tutti gli altri si divertono, ci sono io ad aiutarti! Essendo parte del club dei pallidi ho sempre con me un valido arsenale di creme protettive, molti non sanno che anche i capelli e le labbra possono scottarsi.

 I apply all over my lips this Rilastil lips protection with SPF 10, this is a specific suncreen for your lips but you can use a lipbalm or a lipgloss with SPF in it.

Per prima cosa applico su tutte le labbra lo stick protettivo della Rilastil, con protezione 10. Questa è un prodotto specifico ma potresti anche usare un goss o un balsamo labbra con SPF integrato.

 I don't know about you guys but i like spray suncreen a lot better than cream sunscreen, they are less sticky and easier to apply, perfect for the lazy ones like me ;) This is Rilastil sun system with SPF 50+, don't forget to reapply your suncreen douring the day.

There are many miseries in this world: where do we come from? how big is the universe? why some girls need to apply a ridiculously dark foundation on their pale skin? Some of this questions shall never be answered but today i'm going to try give a reason why some girls just can't do their makeup right.
I mean, i'm not expecting a flawless application, we are not all makeup artists and we don't always have the time to practice but there are 8 things that are just unbearable.
As i said in the video i'm not trying to offend anyone because i made several of this mistakes myself in the past, this is just a funny video that also tells you a little bit about things you should never ever do on your lovely face.

They told me i could be anything, i decided to be the universe.

Before makeup came into my life, my first passion was painting, i have been painting for as long as i can remember, it makes me feel good and it relaxes me. A thing that combines both arts is body painting, as the word suggests, it's the art of painting on the body. I'm really fascinated by it and my interest grew bigger when i discovered the works of some really great artists, what they can do it's really impressive; i would love to post some of their works here but i can't due to copyright reasons.
This is my first attempt and it's not very good but i will try to perfect it and maybe figure out a tutorial for halloween or something.

Prima che scoprissi il makeup, la mia passione è sempre stata dipingere; non ricordo esattamente  quando ho iniziato ma è sempre stata una parte predominante della mia vita, mi rilassa e mi fa star bene. Una cosa che combina entrambe le discipline è il body painting, letteralmente pittura sul corpo. E' un'arte che mi affascina molto e il mio interesse a riguardo è cresciuto notevolmente dopo aver visto cosa riescono affare alcuni artisti, è veramente incredibile. Mi piacerebbe moltissimo condividere con voi alcuni dei loro lavori ma a causa del copyright non posso. Questo è il mio primo tentativo e onestamente non è un gran che ma proverò a perfezionarlo e magari farci un tutorial per halloween.
