Who says working out is not fashionable?

Going to the gym or working out in general is usually one of the most popular new year's resolutions and of course, it was on the top of my personal list but sometimes sport outfits can make us feel not very confident because they are too tight or too loose. Today i want to give you some advices and inspirations on how to look good while you workout. When i started working out again a month ago i was so confused on what to wear and the only matching pants and shits i had were my mom's from the 80's so you can only imagine how funny i looked! But no panic, here we go...

  1. Think about your problematic area, is it your legs, your stomach or your bottom?                                  If your answer is legs, go for a looser yoga pants possibly black and pair it with a tighter colorful t-shirt. If you don't like your stomach, do the opposite, go for a baggy shirt and a legging (make sure it's thick enough so when you bend it wont reveal anything) If your bottom is your problem go for a tight yoga pants and pair it with a long loose shirt so it will cover it ;)                                                                       .
  2. If you are a girl wear a sport bra, ALWAYS! Trust me it will make all the difference in the world, there is nothing more embarrassing than running or bending without having one on. You can find some really fun or colorful ones that pared with a loose short shirt, make a really cute outfit.                                                                                                                                                  .
  3. If you know you will always be wearing total black at the gym because you feel more confident this way, have fun with the accessories. Get some colorful runners, towel and water bottle, not only you'll look super cute but you won't confuse them with the others.                                   .
  4. Speaking or water bottles, get your own reusable one, there are some fun and cute ones on the market that are to die for. This way you will save money and the planet.                                          .
  5. Pay attention to the fabric your sport clothes are made of, it's very important because with sweat sometimes synthetic fibers can irritate your skin, get the one you prefer. I really like organic cotton shirts.                                                                                                                       .
  6. If you have long hair tie them in a ponytail or a bun, it's way more comfortable. Don't worry you will look good anyways.                                                                                                                      .
  7. HAVE FUN!

Workout with style!

Do you prefer the pink one or the black and green one?

Get the look: The Carrie diaries

Hello everyone! As many of you might already know, few weeks ago it was launched "The Carrie Diaries" the prequel of the very famous Sex and The City. I could not resist the temptation to create some inspired outfits. The show takes place in the 80's, so the key world is color blocking!
Some of the outfits might look kind of unusual to you guys but that's because i tried to stay as close as possible to the 80's style that is very fancy and extravagant.
In the young Carrie's style we can find something in common with her grown up version: they both share the love for tulle, sequins and puffy dresses.

If you want to look like teenage Carries living in the 80's, all you need is:
- Point flats and heels ( a must have in the 80's)
-Colorful skirts, shirts and tights
-Colorful blazer, possibly with shoulder pads
-The iconic black bag with nail polish splatters
-Skater skirts with a polka dots pattern
-Black round sunglasses

This first look is all based on color blocking, as the main trend in the 80's, almost everyone was wearing bright colors mixed together. If you want to recreate this look don't forget to wear tights, it was very inappropriate to go out with bare legs. The dresses were mostly to the knees and they were all  cinched at the waist and loose on the bottom.
This second look was inspired by the outfits she wears when she's not in NYC but in her town. She pares skater skirts with colorful tops and shirts and then she adds on top a cardigan or a hoodie. Again, don't forget to wear tights and to rock the black sunglasses.

Last but not least, her NYC party outfits. These are the most funky and sparkly ones. She loves wearing puffy tulle dresses, possibly with some sequins on it and she pares them with animal print cardigans or colorful jackets. At this point, she doesn't wear tights anymore because it wasn't fashionable in NYC. Her shoes have always a little bit of heel and of course, they are pointy.

Carrie takes NYC

I hope these outfits got you in the 80's mood, if you have any requests for my "Get the look" posts let me know! Have a great day, i'll see you next time.
Bye Bye!

On Space Time Foam

Hello hello everyone! Today it was a really full but interesting and fun day. I did a philosophy of art exam this morning and it went very well, after that me and some of my university friends decided to go visit a art installation in Hangar Bicocca in Milano, that pretty much a modern art museum and they always have very creative and original artists.
This "sculpture" named On Space Time Foam by Tomas Saraceno was made of 3 levels of huge pvc bubbles that you could climb, people can watch it from ground floor so eventually you became part of the art work itself. It's very cool to watch but even cooler to clim, i couldn't miss it. I highly recommend it to any of you that happen to be in Milano, it only takes an hour or so but it's definitely worth it and it will be gone the 2th of February.
Here some pictures taken by Renee Moorà Ferri because i couldn't to it since i was climbing it myself and because i only had an iPhone with me, the quality was not really the best so since i really wanted to give you and idea of how incredible it was, i preferred to share her pictures.
Hope you enjoy!

Welcome to the 50's

Hello everyone, how's is your Sunday going so far? Mine is very relaxing, i just had a little girly time with my roommate and now we are about to have pizza! The pictures i'm going to show you are the results of this afternoon's work, i was very inspired by the 50's style. I did a very simple cat eye eyeliner  and i pared it with a fire red lipstick, i think my fair complexion looks pretty good with this kind of makeup.
I know this post is kind of pointless but if any of you like this makeup, i can do a tutorial!
Have a great day and see you tomorrow!
p.s. The makeup i did on my roommate is inspired by Nicki Minaj! She really likes her :)

Over 50 makeup tips

Hello everyone, today's post might sound a little bit weird to you, i don't know how old you guys are but i think it's interesting even if you are still really young, you can help your mom, your grandma or even save the tips for the future :P. Yesterday my mom asked me to do her makeup, i started thinking about what to do, i was not very familiar with over 50 makeup techniques so i tried to remember what beauty tutorials taught me and worked from there.
Eventually i putted together a list of what do or not to do on a more mature face.

  • no eyeliner or pencil, use a dark eyeshadow to line the eyes, this will avoid making them look smaller and more hooded.
  • always fill in your eyebrows, most of you will already know that the fuller they are the younger you look but don't over do them and try to keep them natural
  • draw attention to the eyes and keep the lips natural
  • prefer lipgloss to lipstick, gloss makes them look fuller
  • use powder only in the T zone, overdoing powder can accentuate wrinkles
  • don't over do conturing, mature faces are usually less full than younger ones so they don't need a lot it
This is the makeup i did to my mom, she's almost 55 but you guys have to admit she looks quite younger! I hope this post was useful, i'll see you guys next time!
bye bye!

REVIEW: The amazing Spiderman by O.P.I

Hello my friends, today i feel very positive since i started the journey to achieve one of my main new year's resolutions, in-fact i finally signed for a 7 days a week program at the gym, i really love the environment there and the training programs they offer are really amazing! I can't wait to start!
Today's post is a nail polish review, few days before Christmas i purchased this nail vanish quod from Sephora, i actually went there to buy the Skyfall one but it was sold out so i ended up getting this one.
The kit is composed by 4 nail polishes: a deep dark blue, a pink, a grey silver and a dark gold with a green undertone. All of them have a metallic finish. The pink and the gold one "Your web or mine?" and "Just spotted the Lizard!" are extremely thick and pigmented, you really need just one coat, i was so impressed with them; the blue and the silver one "Into the night" and "Number one Nemesis" are not  as thick and pigmented they are quite watery ,actually, and you need at least two coats to not see through them. All of them last for a very long time, al least a week without chipping and that's why i keep buying O.P.I.
A very interesting thing is that "Just spotted the Lizard!" and "Number one nemesis" are perfect dupes for Chanel's Graphite and Peridot, so if you really like those colors and you don't want to splurge on  Chanel, get this kit because, for 4 mini flacons (3.75 ml  1/8 Oz.) ,you pay only 20€ and if you consider that it's very difficult to empty a nail vanish and a full size O.P.I is 13€ and a Chanel full size is 23€, it's a very good deal!

What i got for Christmas

Good morning everyone, it's a lovely foggy day today in Milano, just kidding fog is not very lovely :P
Today's post is one of my favorite topics to read or watch videos about at the end of the holidays, i'm always very curious to know what everyone got, so i decided i might as well show you what my loved ones gave me. I have to trow in a little declaimer, as usual, i'm not trying to brag or make anyone feel bad, i love showing my friends what i received and see what they received and since i consider you guys my friends i would like to share this with you :)

My friends know i have an obsession for baking and recently i got really interested in cake design too and since they know me so well, i received a lot of cute baking tools.

My lovely roommate, gave me this cupcake displayer and this adorable silicon cupcake molds shaped like flowers.
My best friend Giorgia got me this amazing cake design book wrote from my favorite chef! i already spotted the cake i would like to bake for my birthday.
My dear friend Andrea gave me this Macaroons recipe box, inside there are 50 recipes and a piping bag, i'm not ashamed to admit i failed several times trying to bake them, i hope this cute box will help me!

My dad got me a present that i wanted for a very long time, i am a huge reader, i love reading and i always carry a book in my bag but they can get quite heavy and bulky. I am a very big supporter of paper books, nothing can beat the charm of a real book, the smell, the sound when you turn the pages...but i was also really fascinated by the idea of having an entire library in the palm of my hand. This is the Kobo Arc, an amazing tablet and e-reader, it's created to make your reading very easy and relaxing, you can also watch movies and do many many other things. If you want i can write a full review about it.

My dad also got me this two lovely bath sets. The first one is from I love... and contains a selection of yummi shower gels, my favorite so far is the mango one! The second set he got me is a vanilla and rose petals bath set, it comes with a bath gel, a lotion, a body butter and those cool looking roses that are actually hand soap, everything smells just so amazing!

An other amazing present was this huge palette box from Sephora, this is the "Color pop-up store" and it comes with 42 eyeshadows, 48 lip glosses, 3 blushes, 3 sponge applicators, 12 creme eyeliners and 3 highlighters. This palette looks very big but the cool thing is that when is closed it's a quite small cube.
My mom gave my one of my favorite perfumes of all time! Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. This scent is very rich and sophisticated and yet perfect for girls, i'm not really good at describing scents but i promise it smells incredible and the packaging is so chic.
Another present from my mom was this pair of black Ugg boots, this is water proof model and even if, i have to admit, i'm not the biggest fan of this kind of shoes, i still love them because they are perfect for rain or snow days here in Milano.

My friend Elena got me this really pretty fascinator, she know i love bows. I don't know when i'm going to wear it but i'm excited to!
I also received this adorable umbrella from Braccialini, it's New York themed and again they know me so well because i love the big apple! The umbrella has skyscraper all over it and the handle is very pretty.

My best friend Monica got me this very cute handmade ring that looks like a flower and those amazing candles with designer brands symbols printed on. It's not necessary to tell you guys how much i love candles so you can just imagine my reaction when i saw them!

Last but not least, a little present i got my self at the sales. This incredible jacket from mango, it looks very Chanel-like and it's leather mixed with wool. I think it's chic and edgy at the same time, i can't wait to wear it. I also got this very cute knitted cream white dress from Mango as well, this kind of long swathers are just so comfortable, warm and cute for the winter time.

I hope you liked this post, i want to say a huge thank you to my friends and family for the amazing gifts, and i'll see you all next time! Bye bye!

Get the look: Nina Dobrev

Nina dobrev get the look

Hello Hello everyone! I'm back in my flat in Milano and i have a management exam in two days so i'm kind of freaking out but this won't stop me from updating the blog :) Today's post is dedicated to a person that i really admire, she's a great actress, she's from Toronto and she's currently a vampire...i'm talking about Nina Dobrev! (her name was in the title, it's wasn't really hard to guess :P)
A lot of people love her casual-chic style, when she's off set she's never too dressed up and i rarely see her wearing heels. If you like her outfit and you want to look like her, here's what you need to have:

  • black blazers and skinny jeans
  • a big shopping bag and  magazines or a phone in your hand
  •  lot of mixed bracelets
  • dark denim shorts
  • flats or boots with a little chunky heel
  • a bandage dress to use alone for a night time outfit or pared with a blazer and flats during the day
  • a pair of dark Ray ban wayfarer
Nina loves wearing dark or neutral tones even if she always trows in a pop of color, like a scarf, a necklace or a t-shirt. Her hair look very natural and beautiful all the time, usually they are not perfectly straight and they have quite a bit of volume. Her makeup is simple as well, she always goes for a brown smoky eye pared with a neutral pink lipstick or gloss, her blush is a deep plum color or a earth tone one and her brows are always dark and thick.

When she's walks on a red carpet we often see her wearing a short strapless bandage dress and she usually curls her hair or has a pretty up do, usually is a messy low bun.  One thing i noticed is the she prefers studs earrings, she wears them all the time. She doesn't accessorize much, just a small dainty ring or bracelet and i rarely see her carrying a clutch.

Party like Nina

I hope this post was useful don't be afraid to ask if you have any question i'll see you soon! Bye bye!
